MEETING OF SHALVA PAPUASHVILI WITH THE SPEAKER OF THE CHAMBER OF DEPUTIES OF ITALY
The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Shalva Papuashvili met with the Speaker of the Chamber of the Deputies of Italy, Lorenzo Fontana.
The Speaker of the Italian Parliament expressed positive feedback on the progress of implementing EU recommendations and expressed hope for Georgia to be granted the status of a candidate country, for which Italy has a steadfast commitment.
Additionally, discussions encompassed the current security situation in the South Caucasus region and the bilateral agenda between Georgia and Italy.
This meeting took place in Dublin as part of the European Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments of the Council of Europe Member States. The Georgian delegation included Irakli Chikovani, Head of the Permanent Delegation of the Parliament of Georgia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee and Head of the Georgia-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group.
