TEIMURAZ JANJALIA HAS MET WITH HIS ITALIAN COLLEAGUE

Within the framework of his working visit to the Italian Republic, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Teimuraz Janjalia, met with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Edmondo Chirieli.

The sides emphasized the importance of the signing of the declaration on the establishment of a high-level dialogue by the foreign ministers of the two countries on 21 April 2023, and the importance of deepening cooperation in the format of the newly established dialogue. In this context, special attention was paid to the need for high-level bilateral visits.

The participants of the meeting noted the increasing level of trade and economic cooperation and highlighted the need to strengthen ties in the areas of energy and transport.

Special accent was put on Georgia-EU and Georgia-NATO relations.

Teimuraz Janjalia spoke about Georgia's implementation of the European Commission’s 12 recommendations, the progress achieved in terms of European integration and the importance of granting Georgia the status of a candidate country. The Italian side confirmed its support for Georgia's European aspirations.

The deputy minister informed his Italian colleague about the difficult humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. The Italian side confirmed its strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
